HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 85

Proposing an environmental and recreation partnership to advance
the interests of West Virginia.

Whereas, The Hummer Club, Inc. has offered to partner with the
State of West Virginia for purposes of Environmental Education and
Outdoor Recreation opportunities; and

Whereas, The West Virginia Division of Environmental Protection
is desirous of using all available resources to protect and restore
West Virginia's environment in concert with the needs of present
and future generations; and

Whereas, The West Virginia Bureau of Commerce/Division of
Tourism works to cultivate a world class travel and tourism
industry and to promote a positive State image; and

Whereas, The aforementioned groups have committed to:

Establishing an off-road vehicle training and recreational
area which utilizes established environmental conservation
practices for land disturbances; and

Developing an environmental education complex for the
furtherance of sound environmental practices and for fostering
environmental stewardship; and

Utilizing the valuable human resources existent in citizens,
landowners, agencies and other organizations seeking the common
goal of environmental stewardship, land and water restoration and
economic opportunities through public recreation; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That the Legislature agrees to involve the State of West
Virginia in the proposed environmental reclamation and recreation
partnership initiative, as proposed, and as memorialized by the
passage of this Concurrent Resolution; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk forward a copy of this
resolution to each of the Hummer Club, Inc., the Director of the
West Virginia Environmental Protection Division and the Director of
the West Virginia Bureau of Commerce.
